Workpackage R1:  Improved knowledge of water salinity effects on striped catfish production and striped catfish farming systems.
This workpackage will focus on (i) evaluate experimentally the impact of salinity on osmoregulation capacities, feed efficiency, intestinal and epidemic microbiotas, immunity and disease resistance at different life stages; (ii) evaluate early conditioning to salinity on delayed resistance to saline conditions at later developmental stages; and (iii) evaluate profitability and risks on livelihoods of striped catfish farming for different types of fish farmers in the Mekong Delta under varying conditions of salinity.
